<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><a href="http://www.dkfindout.com/uk/">http://www.dkfindout.com/uk/</a></span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I'm always on the look out for sites that provide a safer research experience for elementary students. (Note: You'll never hear me say "kid safe". Nothing is totally safe on the internet. We always have to provide instruction in digital literacy and searching skills.) </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">DK Find Out is a site I learned about on the <a href="http://www.karenogen.com/" target="_blank">"i Teach with Technology"</a> blog. It looks like a great resource for elementary student research. It's very visual and all the searches go to DK webpages so you don't have to worry about the sites that it links to. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Students can search by keyword or phrase with the search box or explore through a visual subject index. </span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I always test new search sites using the keyword "chicks" (Lots of elementary students watch chicken eggs hatch and search for "chicks" rather than "chickens". If you put "chicks" in some search engines, chicken results is NOT what you're going to get!) You can see that DK Find Out returned lots of results all dealing with birds. :-)</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">All of the pages are arranged the same... text on the left with an interactive picture on the right (click the labels on the picture to learn more). There's also a little quiz, links to more information about the topic and sometimes even an audio file to listen to.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Draw and Tell HD is a drawing (and recording!) app created by Duck Duck Moose (the same company who created Chatterpix Kids). It's free today for the first time! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Students can choose from a variety of backgrounds, including notebook paper, graph paper, primary handwriting paper, patterns or even a picture from the camera roll. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Students can draw with a pencil, paint brush, colored pencil or crayon. There are also stickers to illustrate stories or create math representations. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSlU9tAv9aI0Tp4iIUqUUhdR4u-M-VnoiVLO9i80lm7_R1cxx82qNi1IrkwHRcafZlWQFela9mvp887XJ6cVSnxuVYb_WksrVLEI7hKHMcDB-eBzU5YriNRYn3GjX5uvzhB5CUugXw_BM/s1600/2016-08-25+08.09.54.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSlU9tAv9aI0Tp4iIUqUUhdR4u-M-VnoiVLO9i80lm7_R1cxx82qNi1IrkwHRcafZlWQFela9mvp887XJ6cVSnxuVYb_WksrVLEI7hKHMcDB-eBzU5YriNRYn3GjX5uvzhB5CUugXw_BM/s320/2016-08-25+08.09.54.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Once students have created their drawing, they can tap the microphone icon and record themselves explaining their picture. This would be great for explaining math reasoning or practicing reading vocabulary or spelling words. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZzmirTJhkQMwA4UpEu7IDdnC3CgyY_qvfhrC8Qsx8GzzAnvS2P7H3IEprJE2GS0XJtPW8rKjq2IlzvLQadGG9i22PLdWOP1zJ_n7l5vYAltk_f1oRs-CvQwO0yVSFYz7mieOx9COfn1c/s1600/2016-08-25+08.18.12.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZzmirTJhkQMwA4UpEu7IDdnC3CgyY_qvfhrC8Qsx8GzzAnvS2P7H3IEprJE2GS0XJtPW8rKjq2IlzvLQadGG9i22PLdWOP1zJ_n7l5vYAltk_f1oRs-CvQwO0yVSFYz7mieOx9COfn1c/s320/2016-08-25+08.18.12.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The creations automatically save within the app and can be saved to the camera roll. You can even combine multiple pictures/recordings into a single movie to save to the camera roll. This would be an easy way to create a "book" (slideshow) about math fact families or word families. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">One tip: </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">While the music might be a little annoying, you'll probably want students to have their sound turned on the first time they use the app because it does give instructions about how to use it. </span>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05714290955833641325noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6685002124934076598.post-43295304225356273682016-05-12T17:08:00.000-07:002016-06-09T17:09:10.635-07:00Throwback Thursday - 100 Word Challenge<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I first blogged about the 100 Word Challenge in <a href="http://engagingtechtools.blogspot.com/2013/09/3-easy-ways-to-go-global-in-your.html">this post</a> from September 2013. The 100 Word Challenge is a fun and easy way to make global connections and provide a real life audience for student writing.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Each week students are given a prompt on the website (sometimes a picture and sometimes a phrase). Students around the world (under the age of 16) write 100 word stories based on the prompt and post to a class blog. Students can then read the blogs and comment on the stories written by other students (both older and younger). It's a great way for students to get blog comments from outside their classroom and also a great way to encourage high level writing from your students.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Even if your students aren't blogging, they can still share their stories with each other and read stories from the showcase online. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">If you want to start blogging, EasyBlog is super easy (even kinders can do it!) <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">TouchCast is a free app that lets you create your own newscast... complete with picture in picture content and green screen effects. Some ideas for using TouchCast to show learning in content areas:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">There are many "vApps" that can be added to your news show. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">In my opinion, the most useful ones for elementary students to show their iPad work would be:</span></div>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Web Page - to link to the student's blog post</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Photo - to add picture from camera roll (PicCollage, Skitch, camera, math tool apps)</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Video - (only available on iPad Airs and higher) to add video from camera roll (Tellagami, Chatterpix, Shadow Puppet Edu, 30Hands, iMovie)</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Question - to add a quiz</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">List - list facts, top 10, etc.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Pull Quote - to share a quote from a book, famous person, etc.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Poll - it won't be interactive, but students could create a question to ask the audience.</span></li>
</ul>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">A couple of cautions for using TouchCast with students:</span><br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Be sure they stay on the "Cast Side". This is where they will create their projects. Don't allow them to switch to the "Touch Side". This is a gallery that has already created projects. While most of them would not have inappropriate content, it's better to be safe than sorry and there's really no need for them to explore these.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">When they create a new project, it's safest to choose the "Start from Scratch" option. The others may look cool but there's a possibility of inappropriate information scrolling on the built in news tickers, etc.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Don't allow students to create a TouchCast account if they're under 13. They can save their projects to their camera roll and upload to Google for sharing. If it asks you to sign in when you start the app, just choose "Another Time". Note: The TouchCast terms of service do say that under 13 students aren't allowed to use the service. I've contacted the company directly and they have given us permission to use it with under 13's as long as they are supervised by their teacher and don't create an account.</span></li>
</ul>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Here's my step by step guide for getting started with TouchCast:</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Toontastic is another one of those apps we used "way back when" that was free (with paid add-on packs) but went to an all paid model and is now back to free... ALL free. Google bought the company awhile ago and now EVERY "playset" and feature that used to cost money is FREE. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Students can create cartoons with scenes. It defaults to 5 scenes but you can delete the ones you don't need or you can add more if necessary. Each one has a category (setup, conflict, challenge, etc.) to guide a full story but the individual scenes can be whatever you want them to be... they're all the same.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJK7-Mcyi_4jMkiRHZljSQ95m2mM7OhVRcrVK2ostOgxV7w_Xcf6aUMVhGewr9RDdEtdvztx2dUu7qgihjttU0m1UrtdWNugp6bcjvwS8_06x2n2IaCHeI0tAd9t3-HxNxJQhyphenhyphenxrS1C0XR/s1600/2016-03-30+16.38.21.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJK7-Mcyi_4jMkiRHZljSQ95m2mM7OhVRcrVK2ostOgxV7w_Xcf6aUMVhGewr9RDdEtdvztx2dUu7qgihjttU0m1UrtdWNugp6bcjvwS8_06x2n2IaCHeI0tAd9t3-HxNxJQhyphenhyphenxrS1C0XR/s320/2016-03-30+16.38.21.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwvpjSIazL7q6dmZ7oMAbQ1w7dP_8W7fgZhGt3aUloH81y9vz4Hi6hp8vlbzUlokvQsj5bXzB349ox5clgeHsHY4IbAFpEv5bL6enHErnF3ymo38NnfGMYL3BnLY08HcnvXXngHnxEz9f9/s1600/2016-03-30+16.38.56.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwvpjSIazL7q6dmZ7oMAbQ1w7dP_8W7fgZhGt3aUloH81y9vz4Hi6hp8vlbzUlokvQsj5bXzB349ox5clgeHsHY4IbAFpEv5bL6enHErnF3ymo38NnfGMYL3BnLY08HcnvXXngHnxEz9f9/s320/2016-03-30+16.38.56.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The first time students go through the app, you'll want the sound to be on (with headphones probably!) because it walks students step by step through the process of creating their cartoon. There are all kinds of background scenes to choose from... great for stories about community, animal habitats, biomes or even the signing of the Declaration of Independence! Students can also use their own drawings or pictures from their camera roll as a background.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQIvZ_b2rXf9OVa5D6ATZhYS8NaZHmkJUGo8WORC7cBaWzbFdfHG8IJ-d3k6kJD7BM6O2DakqwxKH_yumjFiso0EdPSTfKDEhIdqZB1W3753h-ZRzOCOOxqZrLmM9P8Px6alQ8c7UcRb3U/s1600/2016-03-30+16.42.49.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQIvZ_b2rXf9OVa5D6ATZhYS8NaZHmkJUGo8WORC7cBaWzbFdfHG8IJ-d3k6kJD7BM6O2DakqwxKH_yumjFiso0EdPSTfKDEhIdqZB1W3753h-ZRzOCOOxqZrLmM9P8Px6alQ8c7UcRb3U/s320/2016-03-30+16.42.49.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">After selecting a scene, students pick their characters ("toys"). Again there are tons to choose from in a variety of categories. There are even some famous people like George Washington, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Susan B. Anthony. Just like the background, they can create their own characters from drawings.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtDZMVOQYJQKwqOI5ViGCIUe7OtO39TzSqalSjdKRxKjbMViebfe96itlZM_fjNFfjMPYYSDg3ZdPu14hv4mDipd4NoLd8XnWN2nWr_jqSPwU6c-Sxp2-lJ6jkWDDWbE-tiaD-40PxghMZ/s1600/2016-03-30+16.43.31.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtDZMVOQYJQKwqOI5ViGCIUe7OtO39TzSqalSjdKRxKjbMViebfe96itlZM_fjNFfjMPYYSDg3ZdPu14hv4mDipd4NoLd8XnWN2nWr_jqSPwU6c-Sxp2-lJ6jkWDDWbE-tiaD-40PxghMZ/s320/2016-03-30+16.43.31.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Once the scene is set and characters are picked, students record their voice acting out their cartoon. This is where the content comes in. Students can create an animation for an original story they've written but it doesn't stop there. Just like with Scribble Press, Toontastic can be used to create non-fiction videos for all subject areas. Here's some ideas I shared in a blog post back in October of 2013 (<a href="http://goo.gl/FCho2D">http://goo.gl/FCho2D</a>)</span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">:</span><br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Math- Explain the steps used to solve a problem or explain a concept such as rounding or estimating</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Science- Create a story explaining the 3 forms of matter or the water cycle (or any other science topic!), document a lab experiment by telling the hypothesis and results; create lab safety videos</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">SS- Create a story using characters to represent two or more historical figures and have them discuss or debate an historical topic relevant to their era.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">ELA- Create stories to present various grammar topics in a conversation or to demonstrate sentence types; retell a story; book reviews; show their knowledge of literary elements</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Foreign Language- Students can create a story with a two way conversation to practice asking/answering questions in a new language.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Other- Create PSAs on bullying, Red Ribbon Week or Internet Safety</span></li>
</ul>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Final products can be saved to the camera roll and uploaded to Google Drive.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Check out this blog post from Irene Boynton, 1st grade teacher at Cannon Elementary. Her students recently used Toontastic to share their learning about animal characteristics. <a href="http://boyntonbuzz.blogspot.com/2016/03/science-meets-storytelling.html">http://boyntonbuzz.blogspot.com/2016/03/science-meets-storytelling.html</a></span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><a href="http://boyntonbuzz.blogspot.com/2016/03/science-meets-storytelling.html"> </a></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The Math Learning Center has 9 free apps for elementary students to use to create models and develop their understanding of number sense, geometry and money. I first blogged about <a href="http://engagingtechtools.blogspot.com/2013/03/number-pieces-basic.html">Number Pieces in April 2013</a> and <a href="http://engagingtechtools.blogspot.com/2015/02/number-frames-app.html">Number Frames in February 2015</a>.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Unite for Literacy is a collection of free non-fiction ebooks for early readers. It works on iPads or computers. The creators of the website have a vision... "We picture a world where all children have access to an abundance of books that celebrate their languages and cultures and cultivate a life-long love of reading." </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The first time you visit the site it will ask you to pick your "community". Then you can scroll through all the books or use the icons along the top of the screen to sort by category.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The books range from single word per page picture books to pages with a few sentences (like the one below).</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The stories can be read to you by clicking the Narration icon and choosing from 30 different languages! One of my favorite features is that it's an actual person reading it... not computer generated.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">NewsELA is a great resource for leveled non-fiction articles. Teachers can create a free account/class and assign selected articles to students. Each article can be read at a variety of Lexile levels so all students can get similar information but at their own level. Articles also have writing prompt options and quizzes. Some are available with a Spanish translation.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Read Write Think offers several great iPad apps for students to use in all subjects... not just ELA. Over the years, I've blogged about <a href="http://engagingtechtools.blogspot.com/2012/10/trading-cards-app.html">Trading Cards</a>, <a href="http://engagingtechtools.blogspot.com/2013/11/free-timeline-creator-app-more-from.html">RWT Timeline and VENN Diagram</a>, and the <a href="http://engagingtechtools.blogspot.com/2013/12/poetry-creation-apps-from-read-write.html">Poetry Apps (Diamante, Theme, Acrostic and Haiku)</a>. <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The Read Write Think website offers many more (58 to be exact!) student interactives that work on computers or Chromebooks for students in all grades k-12. You can search by grade level, interactive type and even learning objective (comprehension, critical thinking, etc.) There are also many lesson plans to give you ideas of how to incorporate the interactives into your classroom. The online interactives can be accessed here: <a href="http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/student-interactives/"> http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/student-interactives/</a>.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Epic! is an awesome app that offers thousands of ebooks for K-5 students and is 100% free for teachers. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">There are so many ways Epic! can help the classroom teacher out! </span><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">It is an app you can put on the child’s iPad or use the website.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">It provides one more way to help children fall in love with reading! </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">It provides a way for children to log their reading documentation. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The choices of literature are AMAZING! Many genres at all levels.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">It allows differentiation in the classroom because you can choose what age group you are interested in reading. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">It has books read to you for the emergent readers.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">It has chapter books of all genres for the higher readers.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">It has books for all academic subjects! Easy way to do nonfiction mini lessons in small group reading that seem exciting to the kids!</span></li>
</ul>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">One tip we've learned since last year is that it is easier to create your student accounts within the iPad app, rather than on the computer. Go to <a href="https://www.getepic.com/educators" style="text-align: center;">https://www.getepic.com/educators</a> to create an account. Then login to the app to add your students.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br />Since KidBlog switched to an all paid model in August, I been on the lookout for a new, EASY way for students to blog. This week I learned about Easyblog.org. Right now, if you sign up for an account you get 100gb of space for free! There is a bit of a process to get everything setup on each iPad but it's the easiest blogging app I've seen for kids. Parents can visit their child's blog online and can subscribe so that they get an email each time their child posts.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br />Here are step by step instructions to get everything set up: <a href="https://goo.gl/g3nzdk">https://goo.gl/g3nzdk</a>. The site also has a great collection of tutorial videos <span style="color: #1155cc; text-decoration: underline; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><a href="http://goo.gl/nUm2UF" style="text-decoration: none;">http://goo.gl/nUm2UF</a></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br />Once everything is setup, students have 4 choices when they're in the app ("The Easyblog App" <a href="https://goo.gl/2IbYZd">https://goo.gl/2IbYZd</a>)</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br />I first blogged about <a href="http://gcisdleadwithtechnology.blogspot.com/2012/06/using-google-forms.html">Google Forms in this post</a> from way back in 2012. Now that everyone in GCISD has a Google account, it's even easier to get started! Here's a step by step tutorial if you're new to Google Forms: <a href="http://learn.googleapps.com/products/forms/get-started">http://learn.googleapps.com/products/forms/get-started</a>.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br />Google Forms are a great way to get information from your students or parents. Many teachers use a short Google Form for a quick formative assessment during a lesson. I have pinned tons of ideas for using Google Forms in the classroom on this Pinterest board: <a href="https://goo.gl/ZBEKce">https://goo.gl/ZBEKce</a></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Here are some examples from GCISD teachers. </span><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Decimals Task Cards - from Kimberly Steele, 4th grade teacher at OC Taylor Elementary. The students worked sample problems on their task cards and submitted the answers to her via this form (<a href="http://goo.gl/forms/jcK3B4mjiD">http://goo.gl/forms/jcK3B4mjiD</a>). Then she used Flubaroo to give her immediate feedback about their progress.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Map Skills - from Caroline Presley, 3rd grade teacher at Heritage Elementary. Caroline used the "add image" feature to add a labeled map for students to reference as they completed this form (<a href="http://goo.gl/forms/k0QLWWL2I4">http://goo.gl/forms/k0QLWWL2I4</a>).</span></li>
</ul>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Once you start using Google Forms with students, you'll definitely want to check out Flubaroo. It's an awesome add-on that will automatically grade a form for you! My favorite part is that it gives you an item by item analysis so you can quickly assess which specific skills your students need to work on. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br />Here's a quick demo of Flubaroo (click this link if you are viewing this blog post via email: <a href="http://viewpure.com/U06W3H_iDho">http://viewpure.com/U06W3H_iDho</a>):</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Flubaroo has a great step by step tutorial on their web site to get you started: <a href="http://www.flubaroo.com/flubaroo-user-guide">http://www.flubaroo.com/flubaroo-user-guide</a>.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">How do you use Google Forms and Flubaroo in your classroom? <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxPWoueEqzdpyet6MLCGqi3apw3bWCrz1EN6SQjv31KRQCtsXJUyD2mxZnAYJQejzJ1q3JuppNHaLg6ehHe_xvWsodi4WcND8y5t-qn8ZwXVxC82yoYbFx6rmnCdu2pgdtIra3r_wQgbo4/s1600/Terms+of+Service.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxPWoueEqzdpyet6MLCGqi3apw3bWCrz1EN6SQjv31KRQCtsXJUyD2mxZnAYJQejzJ1q3JuppNHaLg6ehHe_xvWsodi4WcND8y5t-qn8ZwXVxC82yoYbFx6rmnCdu2pgdtIra3r_wQgbo4/s400/Terms+of+Service.jpg" width="308" /></span></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Any website or app that requires a login to use it will have a "Terms of Service" agreement. The agreement is usually linked at the bottom of the app's website. These agreements generally have age requirements in place in order for the site to comply with COPPA (<a href="http://coppa.org/">Children's Online Privacy Protection Act</a>) and CIPA (<a href="http://www.fcc.gov/guides/childrens-internet-protection-act">Children's Internet Protection Act</a>) laws. Generally these fall into several categories:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><b>No age requirement:</b> Anyone can use<br /><br /><b>Must be over 13 (or sometimes 18) to use: </b>Students under the age of 13 (or 18) CAN'T use the site no matter what (even with parent permission)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /><b>If under 13 (or sometimes 18), students must have parent permission in order to use: </b> Rather than teachers having to get parent permission every time they find a new app, in GCISD, parents give permission through InfoSnap at registration. Your data secretary can print a report of students who do not have permission.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.gcisd-k12.org/cms/lib4/TX01000829/Centricity/Domain/2691/infosnap.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" src="http://www.gcisd-k12.org/cms/lib4/TX01000829/Centricity/Domain/2691/infosnap.png" height="177" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Even if the app or website touts itself to be educational or you hear another teacher talking about it, it is still your responsibility to be sure that you are in compliance with the terms of service. <b>Terms of Service do change</b>. Some of our former favorite apps like Animoto and Haiku Deck no longer allow students under 13 to use the service. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">The flowchart at the top gives you an easy to follow sequence for determining if you can use a site or app with your students. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I originally posted about Thinglink in <a href="http://engagingtechtools.blogspot.com/2013/09/thinglink.html">2013</a> and again <a href="http://engagingtechtools.blogspot.com/2015/01/thinglink.html">earlier this year</a>. Since we have "gone Google" in GCISD, there is now an easier option for getting students logged in to Thinglink and in your class group. Now, instead of you having to create logins (that auto-generated a really hard password!), students can login with their GCISD Google account and join your class via a code. GCISD is also now a Thinglink Verified District so teachers can join our GCISD group to learn and get ideas from each other.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">As a reminder, here are some things I love about Thinglink:</span><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">It can be used in ALL subjects in ALL grades. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">It's an easy way for student to "smash" or "layer" products (video or picture) from other apps into one final project. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">It's a website and an app. Perfect for 1:1 or BYOD classrooms.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">It's a great way to combine paper products with digital. For example: students can draw/illustrate a diagram of the water cycle on paper and then use a picture of it as the background of a Thinglink with video explanations for each phase.</span></li>
</ul>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Here's a sample I made:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I spent some time experimenting with it this summer and have created a sample "Goal Setting Notebook" in Google Slides. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Here are some example slides:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">By creating tables, students can enter numerical data or color code cells to track growth.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Students can even insert pictures of digital or paper work into their "notebook".</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">To view the entire sample notebook I created, click <a href="https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1uu5ahhfJ6HnPdaFTse8PHLNNIIvOPiqxPtj1DRGeVWQ/edit">HERE</a>. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">You're welcome to make a copy of it and modify for your students. Or click </span><a href="https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1uu5ahhfJ6HnPdaFTse8PHLNNIIvOPiqxPtj1DRGeVWQ/copy" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">this link</a><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> to automatically make a copy in your drive. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Now for the big question... how do I get a copy of this to my students? Here are some options:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">1. Google Classroom - If you're using Google Classroom, there's an option on Assignments to make a copy of a file for each student. It's super easy and it will name each document with the student's name.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">2. Force "Make a Copy" - In the spring I blogged a trick for forcing a copy of a document. Some OC Taylor teachers used this for sharing Plan, Do, Study, Act documents. View that blog post here: </span><a href="http://gcisdleadwithtechnology.blogspot.com/2015/01/make-copy-of-google-doc-for-each.html" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">http://gcisdleadwithtechnology.blogspot.com/2015/01/make-copy-of-google-doc-for-each.html</a><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">What do you think? What other forms would you like for your students to use? I'd love to add things to my sample notebook!</span><br />

I get this question a lot. Today I have some exciting new (relatively) things to share!</span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">1. <b>Google Docs and Slides app updates </b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyZlI2guLTLfyQU3eP3zKdGYVTlR1dNDUr82lRRjJDJbeL2Kem4d13oXUJBLHjw20O4QcBY6wPU1vF1mHI2bFZQAwWf3D58TO282BpFbqM9ARdISEySlP6KV3naYTUmikOthvuzLshHCG1/s1600/Apps-Google-Drive-Slides-icon.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyZlI2guLTLfyQU3eP3zKdGYVTlR1dNDUr82lRRjJDJbeL2Kem4d13oXUJBLHjw20O4QcBY6wPU1vF1mHI2bFZQAwWf3D58TO282BpFbqM9ARdISEySlP6KV3naYTUmikOthvuzLshHCG1/s200/Apps-Google-Drive-Slides-icon.png" width="200" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYQCvHRKW8HGzTISapNKOTRmdJ3RTMrFifpETzX1Ykn4S1htvWRLYhj2mmPCXnufP44hCSu1Vw4NIRQ8_uJ5dsNIJfd_-jWfgSx654RQu1qsNpNdykJtH1MaCHIcGb7AC8bdfboI2oFRm8/s1600/Screenshot+2014-08-04+19.56.21.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="194" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYQCvHRKW8HGzTISapNKOTRmdJ3RTMrFifpETzX1Ykn4S1htvWRLYhj2mmPCXnufP44hCSu1Vw4NIRQ8_uJ5dsNIJfd_-jWfgSx654RQu1qsNpNdykJtH1MaCHIcGb7AC8bdfboI2oFRm8/s200/Screenshot+2014-08-04+19.56.21.png" width="200" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The newest update to the Google Docs and Slides apps FINALLY allows users to insert images from the camera roll! Woo hoo! Now the Google Docs and Slides apps can actually be replacements for Pages and Keynote on the iPad... with the added functionality of collaboration plus automatic saving/backing up. More info about the update here: <a href="https://plus.google.com/+GoogleDocs/posts/hRLs2jrjLW6">https://plus.google.com/+GoogleDocs/posts/hRLs2jrjLW6</a></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">2. <b><a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pic-collage-for-kids-best/id977081997?mt=8">Pic Collage Kids</a> </b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Pic Collage has added a YouTube video search feature that is pretty scary to me. Just by clicking the YouTube button, students could see a list of videos without ever typing in a keyword. You can't predict what will come up. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">The good news is that the company has released a new app called Pic Collage Kids that's perfect for students. The only option for images is to insert from the camera roll and it doesn't have the YouTube option. I know lots of teachers like the built in image search in PicCollage, but the fact is, we don't know where those images are coming from... from either a legal or safety standpoint. More info about PicCollage Kids here: </span><a href="http://blog.pic-collage.com/2015/04/22/new-app-introducing-pic-collage-for-kids/" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">http://blog.pic-collage.com/2015/04/22/new-app-introducing-pic-collage-for-kids/</a></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">3. <a href="http://photosforclass.com/"><b>Photos for Class</b></a> </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYZ9TEQ0t0DygoLYmQ9pkyKC4-Hc0TbsMLx4sQfXBeUC4-gh8SqsaPydhyphenhyphenR2GMGRrEjuu661H9u-WgnsiUdi6KQtfXbJ1lVyHAV_YZE84VCB-2eYeuFtHugBzzNBKkEC-VnpUTQyyf4oUw/s1600/Screenshot+2015-05-13+17.30.58.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="76" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYZ9TEQ0t0DygoLYmQ9pkyKC4-Hc0TbsMLx4sQfXBeUC4-gh8SqsaPydhyphenhyphenR2GMGRrEjuu661H9u-WgnsiUdi6KQtfXbJ1lVyHAV_YZE84VCB-2eYeuFtHugBzzNBKkEC-VnpUTQyyf4oUw/s400/Screenshot+2015-05-13+17.30.58.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Speaking of image searches... here's a new one to add to your list. <a href="http://photosforclass.com/">PhotosforClass.com</a> has filtered, copyright friendly images just for students. You can read more about how they do it on their website.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Here's a chart I made (must be logged in with your GCISD Google to view) with QR codes for students to easily access several copyright friendly image search sites. Just print and post in your classroom. Students can scan the codes and add the sites to their home screen for future use.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Google Apps Calendar comes with a cool built in feature called "appointment slots". You can easily create blocks of time on your calendar that people can reserve. It's like Sign Up Genius without having to create a separate account! </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p_AXPhCv6Us/VQjLxGiFsZI/AAAAAAAAAoE/MgH2Zq5u5Fg/s1600/Screenshot%2B2015-03-17%2B19.44.48.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><img border="0" height="144" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p_AXPhCv6Us/VQjLxGiFsZI/AAAAAAAAAoE/MgH2Zq5u5Fg/s1600/Screenshot%2B2015-03-17%2B19.44.48.png" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Here's how it works:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">1. You create "appointment slots" on your calendar. You can set individual times or choose a block and tell Google how many slots to divide it into.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aIj334TfY_k/VQjLxAvNcRI/AAAAAAAAAoA/fUdeSwRdINk/s1600/Screenshot%2B2015-03-17%2B19.48.25.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="183" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aIj334TfY_k/VQjLxAvNcRI/AAAAAAAAAoA/fUdeSwRdINk/s1600/Screenshot%2B2015-03-17%2B19.48.25.png" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">2. Share the event with specific people by entering their email address or copy the appointment page URL to send in an email.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">3. People sign up by clicking a specific time slot and choosing Save. (Note: Users must have a Google account to sign up for events. Parents could use their child's GCISD account if they don't have their own.) Once a specific time has been claimed, it won't show up for other users to select.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iX-a5qpSHj0/VQjLxJk0H4I/AAAAAAAAAn8/JstGF7Usr2U/s1600/Screenshot%2B2015-03-17%2B19.45.14.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="117" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iX-a5qpSHj0/VQjLxJk0H4I/AAAAAAAAAn8/JstGF7Usr2U/s1600/Screenshot%2B2015-03-17%2B19.45.14.png" width="320" /></a></span><br />

Since not all images on the internet can be freely used in web based teacher or student projects, we need to teach students how and where to go to look for legal and appropriate images. Remember that our GCISD filter is not foolproof, so good monitoring is ALWAYS necessary. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Here are some resources: (GCISD teachers can access this presentation online: <a href="http://goo.gl/r0bzoe">http://goo.gl/r0bzoe</a>) </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Taking screenshots on your Mac is easy... just hold down Command+Shift+4 and then drag a square around what you want to screenshot. An image name "screenshot" will then be saved to your desktop. There are other keystrokes you can use depending on whether you want the whole screen, a specific window or just want the image copied to the clipboard. Learn more here: <a href="http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201361">http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201361</a> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Sometimes, however, you want to take that screenshot and add annotations to it. That's where a free application called Snip can come in handy.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">With Snip, you can draw squares, circles, arrows and lines or type text directly onto your screenshot. Then, when your image is ready, click the download icon (the last icon on the toolbar) to save the image to your desktop. </span><br />

The Easy Way!<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Last week at OC Taylor, three fourth grade classes were going to be completing their Plan, Do, Study, Act goal sheet for this semester. The teachers wanted the students to complete it digitally using the PDSA template found in the GCISD Template Gallery. The problem is... the gallery is fairly complicated to access from an iPad. We decided to use a cool feature in Google Drive that works with any Google Doc, Slides or Sheets file. Here's how it works:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">1. Every Google document has a unique URL that ends with the word "Edit".</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><b>Tips for sharing the URL with students:</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<ol>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Post the link to Edmodo or Google Classroom.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Use a URL shortener like <a href="https://bitly.com/">https://bitly.com</a> or <a href="http://goo.gl/">http://goo.gl</a></span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Paste the link into your favorite QR code generator. I like <a href="http://goo.gl/">http://goo.gl</a> (which also shortens the URL at the same time) or <a href="http://goqr.me/">http://goqr.me</a>.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Install a browser extension so that it's just a click of a button to create the QR code or shortened URL. I use Chrome and my favorites are the "goo.gl URL Shortener" and "The QR Code Extension". More info about the QR Code Extension can be found <a href="http://gcisdleadwithtechnology.blogspot.com/2013/02/simple-qr-code-generator-for-google.html">HERE</a>. More info about Chrome extensions in general can be found <a href="http://gcisdleadwithtechnology.blogspot.com/2014/04/google-chrome-browser-apps-extensions.html">HERE</a>.</span></li>
